Nidal Hassan's execution footage and reactions
The article discusses the U.S. Department of Defense's plan to broadcast Nidal Hassan's execution live on air, amid tensions between support from President Trump, who emphasized the need to carry out the sentence, and doubts from Vice President Pence, who expressed reluctance to watch the live execution. The United Nations also warns that live broadcasting might violate the ban on torture, marking what is believed to be the first public broadcast of a legal execution in the United States. This has reignited debates over the application of the death penalty within the military justice system. Nidal Hassan is a former psychiatrist convicted of killing 13 people in an attack at Fort Hood in 2009, with the sentence scheduled to be carried out in December.
