Argentina wins 7-0; Martinez ties Aguero record
The Argentine national team won a 7-0 victory over Burkina Faso in a friendly match held at the Monumental Stadium in Buenos Aires. The match featured a lineup of young players under 23 to enhance experience and inject fresh blood into the team. Player Lautaro Martínez scored two goals, while forward Martínez also matched Sergio Agüero’s record as Argentina’s top scorer with 42 goals, making him the third highest scorer after Messi and Gabriel Batistuta. Burkina Faso faced a long and strenuous journey before the match, with several of their key players absent, resulting in clear technical gaps and a weaker overall performance compared to Argentina, who dominated the game with an 78% possession. The match provided Argentina's coach Lionel Scaloni an opportunity to test several young players, with many of them scoring their first international goals, despite limited attendance due to a FIFA sanction against Argentina.
