Egypt's Foreign Minister on Gulf Security
Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry emphasized that Gulf security is directly linked to Egypt's own security. He clarified that Egypt does not interfere in other countries' internal affairs but has taken action to support Gulf nations against Iranian attacks. He also affirmed that protecting Egypt’s water share from the Nile River is a red line, while continuing efforts to compensate for water shortages through desalination and water recycling. Furthermore, he reiterated Egypt’s commitment to its peace treaty with Israel. He called for arms to be confined within Lebanon, while reaffirming support for Palestinian unity and Syrian stability. The minister focused on rejecting any maritime obstruction in the Strait of Hormuz and Bab el-Mandeb; he also confirmed that Egypt stands with Lebanon in the necessity of disarming Hezbollah.
