Trump commits $4B for nuclear energy
The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump plans to allocate approximately $4 billion to Vistra Corporation to finance the development of three new nuclear power plants in the United States. The goal is to increase electricity production to meet growing demand, especially from data centers that require high energy consumption. The investments include two plants in Ohio and one in Pennsylvania, with the U.S. Energy Secretary expected to announce the funding during a visit to the Perry Nuclear Power Plant. The government aims to quadruple nuclear energy capacity by 2050 to support economic growth and reduce reliance on traditional energy sources, amidst challenges related to the timing and costs of constructing new reactors.
