China urges Japan to reflect on aggression
China has called on Japan to confront its history of aggression and to reflect deeply on it. This comes as the 95th anniversary of Japan’s invasion of China on September 18, 1931, which lasted for 14 years, is marked. A spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that Japan’s ongoing denial of its aggressive past poses a threat to the international system and the foundation of regional peace. It aims to pave the way for Japan’s rearmament and undermine the outcomes of World War II. China urges Japan to take tangible steps to build trust with its Asian neighbors and the international community, and to maintain awareness of its colonial and aggressive past to prevent it from happening again.
