Iraqi army brigadier and soldier die in blast
The brigade commander and two Iraqi soldiers were killed in an explosive device explosion targeting a military vehicle near Kirkuk, during a search operation for a Daesh hideout. This comes amidst a surge in attacks by Daesh sleeper cells, despite the US troop withdrawal from Iraq last September, raising concerns about an escalation in the security situation in the region.
