Egyptian Army Reports Three-Month Border Guard Toll

The Egyptian Armed Forces announced that they seized large quantities of drugs and smuggled materials over the past three months, including 241 tons of narcotics, 1.5 million drug tablets, as well as 37 tons of processed heroin and 335 acres of drug cultivation. They also confiscated 1,149 firearms and 187,000 rounds of ammunition, in addition to 410 cases involving non-customs-paid goods, 178 instances of illegal gold mining, and 805 smuggled vehicles. Furthermore, they thwarted 213 attempts at infiltration and illegal migration involving more than 4,400 individuals of various nationalities, as part of efforts to enhance Egypt’s border security.
