Morocco unveils new government team

King Mohammed VI appointed Fatima Zahra Mansouri as the Prime Minister of Morocco, making her the first woman to hold this position in the country's history. This follows the formation of a four-party coalition government comprising the "Authenticité et Modernité" (Authenticity and Modernity), "Istiqlal" (Independence), the "Union Socialiste" (Socialist Union), and "Progress and Socialism" parties. The cabinet consists of 31 ministers, with the existing sovereign ministers remaining in their positions, and includes the establishment of a Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation. This move comes after the Istiqlal party’s victory in the recent legislative elections, which saw the lowest voter turnout in two decades. It is considered a historic step in Moroccan politics, signaling a new phase of reform and increased female representation.
