Trump supporters demand martial law over election fears

The Maga Movement, closely aligned with Donald Trump, is calling for the implementation of exceptional measures, including martial law, if its supporters doubt the integrity of the upcoming midterm elections, despite there being no evidence of fraud. The movement held an online meeting in September, during which it called for the seizure of ballots and voting equipment, and a manual recount of the votes. It also suggested activating the state of emergency to annul or suspend the election results. Legal experts emphasized that presidential powers during emergencies are limited and do not permit overriding election laws. The White House spokesperson highlighted the importance of a safe and transparent election to ensure public trust, amid fears that doubts about the results could extend into the corridors of the U.S. administration.
