Netanyahu and Ben-Gvir's impact on Israeli right
The article discusses the internal conflict between Benjamin Netanyahu and Itamar Ben Gvir over the leadership of the Israeli right-wing and its impact on upcoming election results. The disagreement centers on the distribution of seats and ministerial portfolios, particularly the defense portfolio, which reflects a structural crisis threatening the unity of the right-wing coalition and affecting the bloc's ability to convert votes into parliamentary seats. Polls show a decline in Likud's popularity in favor of centrist parties, with expectations that this rivalry could lead to a loss of votes for the right due to internal divisions and strategic calculations over surplus votes. Ben Gvir faces a significant challenge in securing the defense portfolio, as Netanyahu insists it remain with Likud, deepening the internal conflicts and threatening the stability of a potential government.
