Egypt confirms support for Saudi Arabia
Egypt has affirmed its full readiness to support the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, including military support, in confronting attacks targeting its territories. Currently, it is reviewing the Makkah Agreement for collective defense with Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan. Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry emphasized that Saudi Arabia's security is part of Egyptian and Arab national security. Cairo condemns all attacks on Saudi lands and continues to support Saudi Arabia in various forms. He also warned of escalating tensions in the region, calling for political and diplomatic solutions to ongoing crises, particularly in Yemen, Libya, Sudan, Lebanon, Syria, and Palestine, reaffirming that peaceful solutions are the only path to stability. On the economic side, he pointed out that tensions have impacted Egypt through disruptions in supply chains, especially in the Strait of Hormuz and Bab el-Mandeb Strait, negatively affecting Suez Canal revenues. However, the Egyptian economy has demonstrated resilience, managing to absorb crises and external challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic and regional conflicts.
