Iranian container ship sinks after mine strike
A container ship collided with a mine in the Strait of Hormuz, resulting in its sinking. The ship was carrying over 2,500 containers and was attempting to navigate a non-permitted and dangerous route. The Iranian Revolutionary Guard confirmed that the vessel was on an unauthorized course and called on Iranian ships and fishermen to exercise caution. Additionally, a fishing boat—believed to have been targeted by a U.S. drone attack—was injured, with three fishermen hurt near Sirik. This comes amid new Iranian efforts to target ships in the strait, aiming to keep oil prices high and influence the U.S. elections.
