US midterms: small parties face challenges
The article discusses the upcoming American midterm elections scheduled for November 3rd, where hundreds of independent candidates and third-party groups, such as the Green Party and Libertarians, are competing to break the dominance of the two main parties, the Democrats and Republicans. Despite increasing voter dissatisfaction with the current system, the chances of these smaller parties succeeding in the American electoral system, which operates on a "winner-takes-all" principle, remain low, as no Libertarian or Green candidate has been elected to Congress so far. The candidates face significant challenges related to funding and support, but they see this as an opportunity to participate in the future, with plans to run again in the upcoming elections.
