Houthi clashes strain healthcare and increase displacement
The humanitarian crisis in Yemen is escalating due to continued escalation by the Houthis, with the number of dead and injured exceeding five thousand people since last August. Nearly 200,000 people have been displaced, and outbreaks of epidemics such as cholera and measles are worsening. Healthcare services are facing significant challenges in reaching the affected, amid shortages of checkpoints and medical supplies, which disrupt emergency treatment and threaten the lives of those injured. The number of displaced persons is increasing, and they are enduring difficult conditions in camps, with rising rates of malnutrition among children and continued surges in epidemic cases. Meanwhile, the capacity of authorities and humanitarian organizations to respond is diminishing due to deteriorating security and logistical conditions.
