Turkey restarts F-16 jet talks with US
Turkey is resuming talks with the United States to purchase additional F-16 fighters, as it seeks to strengthen its aging air force amid uncertainty regarding the acquisition of F-35 jets. Discussions took place at Ramstein Air Base in Germany between officials from both sides. These talks are part of a deal valued between $7 billion and $23 billion, which includes upgrading old aircraft and purchasing new ones. Turkey faces a potential gap in its air capabilities before its domestically developed "Kaan" fighters are ready, and is working to fill this gap by purchasing advanced F-16s. This comes amid increased efforts to modernize regional fleets, such as those of Israel and Greece.
