Army enlistment in Kordofan raises concerns

The humanitarian and military situation in Kordofan is escalating due to the ongoing war in Sudan. The Sudanese army has made advances in North Kordofan and has taken control of strategic areas, including the town of Jummam and other authorities, as part of synchronized military operations against the Rapid Support Forces. The fighting has led to the displacement of thousands of civilians and increased destruction in affected areas, coupled with worsening living conditions, rising food prices, and a deteriorating humanitarian situation caused by shortages of supplies and the high cost of living. Humanitarian organizations have warned that the supply of the humanitarian corridor could be exhausted within two weeks, a lifeline for over 2.84 million people. Amid ongoing displacement and hunger, along with the worsening security situation, there is a looming risk of a large-scale humanitarian catastrophe.
