Egypt: Man Demands Arrest Prompting Interior Response
The Egyptian Ministry of Interior quickly arrested a person who appeared in a circulated video, requesting security authorities to take action against a judicial ruling issued against him. He claimed he was at risk of being murdered due to disputes over a land plot in Beheira. Investigations revealed that he is a former defendant who was sentenced to two years in prison for theft and embezzlement-related cases. The complaint against him is false, and his disputes over the ownership of a farm have been ongoing for four years. The ministry confirmed that there are no official reports regarding any threats, and that legal measures have been taken. A disguised photograph of the suspect was released after his detention.
