PKK Cuts Peace Ties with Turkey
The article focused on the Kurdish Workers' Party's stance on the peace process in Turkey, where its leadership expressed distrust of the government's procedures and suspicion regarding the disarmament process. They demanded the release of their leader, Abdullah Ocalan, and the return of their leadership to participate in the democratic process. The leaders complained that the Turkish law on disarmament is aligned with the government's interests rather than the party's demands, emphasizing the necessity for Ocalan to meet with Turkish society, party leaders, and the media. They also stressed the need to amend laws to ensure Kurdish rights. Additionally, the party expressed concerns that the process might result in surrender rather than a final resolution, amid ongoing threats from Turkey to pursue party leadership. Sources indicated that Ocalan would enter the disarmament committee, while political and legal negotiations continue to facilitate the return of party members to Turkey.
