FIFA secrets pose threat to Infantino
The article focused on the financial dispute between the leadership of the International Football Federation (FIFA) and the prominent continental federations. The presidents of the European and CONCACAF federations called for transparency in FIFA's accounts and an independent review of its reserves. It was noted that FIFA holds record reserves approaching $6 billion and can fund federations from its budget without the need to sell assets. It is expected that $2.1 billion will be allocated to the development of federations during the 2027-2030 cycle. The two leaders urged for an independent financial review before making decisions regarding the distribution of funds, amidst internal challenges related to transparency and governance. This comes as Infantino continues his quest for a new term in the upcoming elections.
