UEFA and CONCACAF leaders seek FIFA funds review
The president of the European Football Union (UEFA) and the Confederation of North, Central American, and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) have taken steps to demand that FIFA conduct an independent review of its financial situation. These efforts are part of their campaign to oust FIFA President Gianni Infantino over his plans to sell stakes in the World Cup to private investors. In a letter, they requested a comprehensive assessment before their October meeting, and pledged to provide additional funding to national federations—$10 million each from FIFA's reserves—despite Infantino's previous proposal to give each federation $20 million. These actions come after the revelation of a secret plan by Infantino for private investment, with UEFA and CONCACAF leaders wanting to investigate Kushner Investment Company and potentially file criminal complaints over possible mismanagement.
