Far-right French Politician Criticizes Mbappé Over Ceuta Jersey
The article discussed a controversy surrounding Kylian Mbappé's behavior during the match between Real Madrid and Elche in La Liga, where he refused to fully show his jersey which carried a message of support for the residents of Sbeitla. Mbappé explained that he intended to send a message of solidarity with the city and the migrant victims suffering there, but chose not to reveal the full emblem in order to include all victims and children of the outskirts, asserting that his stance does not reflect opposition or preference for any particular group. The French right-wing activist Éric Zemmour's comments, in which he accused Mbappé of expressing "Islamic solidarity," sparked angry reactions from the French left, leading to an official complaint to the media regulatory authority. It is worth noting that the shirts distributed before the game bore messages such as "We All from Sbeitla" and "Our City, Our Homeland." Mbappé emphasized that his actions aimed to convey a message of peace and to accurately communicate the situation, stressing his support for the residents of Sbeitla and his compassion for migrant victims.
