Stanford student criticizes elite college over dorm rape
A Stanford graduate who was allegedly raped in her dorm room at age 19 has criticized the university for its handling of her case, revealing delays and mistakes that allowed her attacker to potentially complete his degree. Despite being found responsible for multiple forms of sexual assault, the attacker is still on track to graduate in the fall. The survivor described a protracted two-year investigation, during which she faced prolonged delays, limited contact with authorities, and missed academic opportunities, leading to feelings of frustration and injustice. Stanford asserts that outside arbitrators, not the university, conduct Title IX hearings and impose sanctions, and emphasized efforts to improve the process despite acknowledging delays.
