North Korea launches projectile towards east
North Korea launched a ballistic missile toward the sea, extending recent military tests amid heightened tensions with South Korea following border mine incidents. The missile traveled over 700 kilometers, with Japan confirming it landed outside its exclusive economic zone. South Korea's military is monitoring possible further launches and has called for North Korea to halt its missile activities, which violate U.N. sanctions. The launch followed North Korea's increased weapons demonstrations and border fortification efforts, reflecting Kim Jong Un’s continued focus on expanding its nuclear and missile programs despite U.S. calls for diplomacy.
