Saudi Arabia announces 2027 Asian Cup prep plan

The Saudi Football Federation has announced the preparatory program for the national team ahead of the 2027 AFC Asian Cup, which will be held in Saudi Arabia from January 7 to February 5, 2027. The program aims to prepare the players to compete for the title after recently winning the Gulf Cup. It includes two training camps accompanied by strong friendly matches to test the team's technical and physical readiness. The preparation begins with an overseas camp in Qatar from November 9 to 17, 2026, featuring two friendly matches against South Korea and Uzbekistan. This is followed by an internal camp in Al Khobar from December 21, 2026, to January 3, 2027, which will include a friendly against Qatar and a closed-door meeting with Jordan. Additionally, the Aramco Stadium in Al Khobar, with a capacity of 47,000 spectators and a design inspired by the water whirlpools of the Gulf coasts, will be inaugurated. It is one of the main venues for hosting matches in the 2034 World Cup and the Asian Cup. The draw placed the Saudi team in a strong group alongside Oman, Palestine, and Kuwait. Their first match will be against Palestine on January 7, followed by encounters with Oman and Kuwait.
