US Embassy Saudi Arabia Travel Advisory

The U.S. Embassy in Saudi Arabia has issued a security alert warning of an escalation in attacks carried out by the Iran-backed Houthis. These attacks include assaults on airports and critical infrastructure, leading to casualties and disruptions in travel. The warning emphasizes the importance of adhering to security measures, including obtaining special permits for internal travel within the kingdom and avoiding areas near the Yemeni border and certain designated locations as part of precautionary steps. The embassy also cautions about the potential for airport attacks, noting that operations at Riyadh Airport remain suspended, with some delays at Jeddah and Dammam airports. Americans are advised to exercise caution and verify the status of their flights. The military activity in the region continues, with several drones launched by the Houthi group being intercepted and destroyed throughout October. Their attacks have focused on airports and oil facilities in Saudi Arabia, in a pattern of ongoing escalation over recent years.
