Vatican: Pope's surgery successful no further treatment needed

The Vatican has confirmed that the surgery performed on Pope Francis, the Holy Father, to treat lung cancer was successful, and that the condition was limited to the tumor site without the need for additional treatment. It was determined that the cancer is an adenocarcinoma, the most common type of lung cancer, which tends to develop slowly and often affects non-smokers. After undergoing removal of a portion of his left lung, the Pope returned to his residence on October 17, and he appeared publicly the following day to express his closeness to patients suffering from illnesses. This comes ahead of his scheduled trip to South America next month. Despite some doubts, the trip has not yet been canceled, as there are no clinical reasons preventing it.
