Dispute over Baghdad PMF explosion

Reports have indicated an explosion at a weapons depot belonging to the Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) east of the Army Canal in Baghdad, which resulted in injuries to five PMU members. Initial investigations suggest that the incident was caused by an internal malfunction rather than an external attack. However, some sources and observers believe that the explosion may reflect internal conflicts or storage negligence, amid accusations from a parliamentary deputy that the American government is targeting the PMU—an allegation denied by sources close to the organization. The incident occurred following the withdrawal of U.S. forces and increased mutual accusations regarding attacks on PMU forces, along with calls to reconsider security coordination with Washington.
