Japanese minister visits Yasukuni Shrine

Minoru Kiyuchi, Japan's State Minister for Economic and Financial Policies, visited Yasukuni Shrine in Tokyo for the first time since Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's government. During the visit, he offered a ritual sacrifice called "Masakaki." Prime Minister Takaichi also sent a similar offering, but it is not expected that she will visit the shrine during the three-day autumn festival. The shrine is considered controversial because it venerates 14 Japanese war criminals convicted at the first-grade level, and it often sparks diplomatic tensions due to its history and connection to Japan's wartime past.
