Germany-Israel Student Exchange Faces Disruption

Student exchange programs between German and Israeli schools have been halted since 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Recent security events, such as the terrorist attack in October 2023, have further led to the deterioration of these programs and the suspension of trips. Schools are facing significant difficulties in organizing exchanges because of rising costs, loss of financial support, and a reduced number of applications for funding trips. Nevertheless, teachers and interested parties are striving to reactivate exchange programs to promote understanding among youth and combat anti-Semitism, considering them a vital tool for communication and bringing peoples closer together.
