Origins of Student Protests in France

The article discusses the deterioration of France's infrastructure and education system, where many schools suffer from issues such as rats, leaks, windows that won't open, and high temperatures during the summer. Despite the government allocating 6.7% of the GDP to education, the division of authority between the central government and local authorities leads to slow renovation and development processes. Most school buildings are over 50 years old and require urgent repairs. Recent results from the PISA test also reveal a decline in student performance, with Lower proficiency in core subjects, an increase in canceled classes, and teachers' salaries falling behind those of neighboring countries. Student protests are intensifying due to these conditions, and the government aims to address the problem through initiatives and additional budgets, but financial and political challenges remain significant obstacles.
