China has inaugurated a direct maritime route to Oman via the Khalifa Bin Zayed Port in the southern part of the country. A roll-on/roll-off vessel departed with 2,727 Chinese-made vehicles headed to Duqm Port in Oman, setting a record for the largest single-shipment of cars exported from this port. The vessel, named Changrongku, will sail directly without stops at intermediate ports, with an expected voyage duration of approximately 15 days, thereby reducing shipping time and strengthening maritime links between China and Middle Eastern markets. This development is part of the expansion of China's maritime transport network, supported by a transportation system that integrates rail and sea freight, as vehicles are transported from factories in Chongqing to the port via dedicated trains. Data shows that Chinese car exports increased by 66.7% in the first eight months of 2026, with over 7.15 million units exported, including a 120% increase in new energy vehicle exports. The port has now become a key platform for transforming China into a major supplier of automobiles to the Middle East and other regions, achieving a shipping record with more than 11,000 vehicles exported by the end of September.
