Wachsender Extremismus in Deutschland

Saxony-Anhalt State in eastern Germany witnessed a landslide victory for the far-right populist Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, which secured 43.8% of the votes in the state's parliamentary elections—the highest result in its history. Although the party did not achieve an absolute majority, this outcome raises concerns about the increasing influence of extremist parties. The election results indicate that right-wing and far-left parties are gaining strength across Germany, while support for traditional parties is waning. This trend suggests that forming stable governments will become more challenging amid growing ideological and emotional polarization. The rise of nationalist and left-wing extremism raises fears of declining public trust in democracy, especially as crises such as immigration and climate change deepen political and internal divisions.
