Nawaf Salam: War Forcing Us, No Regional Settlement

Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati spoke about the consequences of war on Lebanon and emphasized that waiting for a regional settlement does not guarantee the country's stability. He stressed the necessity of achieving the Israeli withdrawal from the south, strengthening the authority of the state, and regaining control over the territories. During his visit to Nabatieh, he highlighted that the priority now is to halt Israeli attacks and that Lebanon must undertake comprehensive efforts for reconstruction, even though the scale of needs exceeds the country's own capabilities. These statements come at a time of increasing Israeli threats and ongoing Israeli assaults on Lebanon, despite the signing of an American agreement aimed at establishing Lebanese control over the occupied areas.
