Chinese Rocket and Lab Test Space Drugs

China's "C.A.S. Space" company has announced its collaboration with the Guangzhou Laboratory to conduct research and development on pharmaceutical payloads in space, aiming to test techniques for crystallizing protein drugs and small molecules in the space environment. The first payloads are scheduled to be launched aboard the reusable "Lhyunong-2" spacecraft in 2027, to carry out experiments on enhancing drug stability and gaining a more precise understanding of disease mechanisms. This partnership seeks to utilize the microgravity environment of space to improve crystal quality and pharmaceutical manufacturing techniques, contributing to the development of more efficient screening tools and advanced studies on disease mechanisms, while also enhancing the laboratory's capability to manage data swiftly and accurately.
