Somali referee Aarten seeks Egypt League chance

Somali referee Omar Arten, who was selected to oversee European Super Cup matches, was denied the opportunity to officiate at the 2026 World Cup due to allegations linked to individuals suspected of connections to terrorist organizations. He was deported from the United States despite being acquitted by the International Federation. In light of this, the Somali Football Federation has submitted a request to the Egyptian Football Association for permission for Arten to work in the local league. The Egyptian Federation has welcomed the proposal and is willing to take legal steps to host him, giving him a chance to prove his competence after the international crisis he faced.
