Al-Tarees resumes local whistle after 407 days

Saudi referee Khaled Al-Tarees has returned to oversee matches for Al Hilal’s first football team after a 407-day absence. He will lead the match between Al Hilal and Al Ittihad this Saturday at King Saud University Stadium in Riyadh, as part of Round 8 of the Saudi Pro League. The last match officiated by a local referee for Al Hilal was on August 29, 2025, when Majid Al-Shammari refereed a game against Al Riyadh. Currently, Al Hilal, with 18 points, is competing for the top spot against Al Ittihad, which has 17 points. This is an important match to strengthen their positions in the league table, with Al Hilal aiming to reclaim the lead while Al Ittihad seeks victory to overtake and assume the top position.
