Washington seeks stability in Iraq

American policy in Iraq has faced a decline in trust, leading Washington to suspend cooperation with the Iraqi armed forces, including a halt to training programs and refusal to provide American aircraft with technical supplies, despite continued intelligence cooperation against ISIS. American officials express frustration over the Iraqi government's weakness and increasing Iranian dominance, emphasizing that the relationship with Iraq will shift towards a bilateral framework, with U.S. troops withdrawn from key areas to ensure safety. Iraq faces significant challenges from Iranian influence and financial corruption, which hinder the government's efforts to achieve stability or establish a strong path to counter external interventions. Meanwhile, Washington remains cautious in dealing with the deterioration of relations and the security implications in Iraq.
