Germany Keeps Russian Sanctions Despite Trump's Fuel Relaxation

Germany reaffirmed its commitment to the sanctions imposed on Russia due to its war in Ukraine, despite U.S. President Donald Trump's announcement of a temporary lifting of sanctions on Russian fuel. A government spokesperson in Germany stated that Berlin remains committed to the sanctions and is working with its European partners to impose more, while continuing to support Ukraine and its diplomatic efforts to resolve the crisis. This comes as the Trump administration announced that Russia has agreed to supply diesel to global markets to help reduce fuel prices, with the sanctions aiming to deprive Moscow of revenue that funds its war against Ukraine. Meanwhile, diesel prices are approaching record-high levels.
