Saudi Arabia Advocates Gulf Digital Connectivity

Saudi Arabia has called for the creation of a sustainable digital interconnection among the Gulf Cooperation Council countries to enhance integration in computing capabilities and data sovereignty. The goal is to increase the global competitiveness of Gulf companies and support regional cooperation in artificial intelligence and advanced technologies. Minister Abdullah Al-Swaha proposed developing a unified Gulf system that connects digital infrastructure and achieves integration between energy and computing, including electric power capacities reaching 14 gigawatts for data centers and increasing communication bandwidth to 18 terabits per second. This project aims to strengthen the resilience of the Gulf digital ecosystem, open markets, and develop sustainable models of cooperation among the nations, with a focus on entrepreneurship and innovation, to boost the region's competitive edge globally.
