Saudi Arabia conducts 144,000 inspections to safeguard consumers

The Saudi Ministry of Commerce conducted over 144,000 supervisory visits to commercial establishments and online stores during the third quarter of 2026, aiming to ensure compliance with regulations and enhance consumer protection. These efforts resulted in the registration of 475 suspected cases of commercial concealment and 58 violations, in addition to imposing fines totaling 2.14 million riyals on offenders after reviewing 1,448 reports. Eleven violations were pursued legally. Additionally, the use of artificial intelligence through the smart assistant helped improve the quality of 70% of consumer reports and addressed more than 210,000 complaints during this period. The campaign also included the recall of over 191,000 vehicles and defective products to promote safety.
