House panel warns Singham-affiliated nonprofits to comply with subpoenas
Lawmakers are investigating whether funds from Neville Roy Singham's network of nonprofits are being used to promote Chinese Communist Party interests in the United States. The House Ways and Means Committee issued subpoenas to three organizations linked to Singham, who is also among 21 individuals potentially slated for questioning under oath. The investigation centers on allegations that Singham used shell companies to obscure foreign funding flowing into these groups, with a focus on whether existing tax laws sufficiently address foreign influence in the nonprofit sector. The organizations have challenged the subpoenas, asserting that the investigation infringes on their First Amendment rights.
