A report by researchers Mark Owen Jones and Sohan D’Souza uncovered a disinformation campaign targeting 30 countries between October 2023 and October/November 2026. The campaign spent £6.12 million and generated around 800 million ad impressions. It used ads and AI-generated videos to promote anti-Muslim, anti-immigrant, anti-Qatar and anti-Iran rhetoric, as well as the “Great Replacement” theory. The researchers identified indicators linking those behind the campaign to Israel, but found no conclusive evidence that the Israeli government was responsible. An analysis of 406 comments on ads in the UK also found that 61% endorsed anti-Muslim views. The report called for tighter oversight of political advertising and verification of advertisers’ identities, noting that the funder and the party with ultimate control over the campaign have not been identified.
