UN urges Israel to protect West Bank farmers
UN experts have called on Israel to protect Palestinian farmers in the West Bank from settler attacks, especially during the olive harvest season, which is a vital source of food and income for thousands of Palestinian families. They emphasized that the level of violence increases year after year, with 178 attacks documented during the 2025 season and over 6,000 trees destroyed, the highest in six years. They also warned of Israeli orders to remove vegetation covering approximately 339,000 square meters of agricultural land, which harms Palestinians' food and cultural security. The experts urged Israel to ensure the protection of farmers and to comply legally, while the international community is called upon to pressure Israel to cease practices that violate Palestinian rights.
