Beirut Airport Delays US Flights
A report by the United Nations aviation agency revealed that Beirut International Airport lacks a valid accreditation certificate, which is obstructing the resumption of direct flights between the United States and Lebanon. This comes despite President Trump announcing plans to open the airspace between the two countries after signing a decision in July. The organization pointed to deficiencies in the airport and Lebanese aviation systems, which could lead to delays in restarting flights and complicate efforts to implement the decision supported by the United States, amid Washington's pressure on Lebanon regarding Hezbollah.
