Israel Advances in Southern Syria
Recent developments indicate that Israel continues its military incursion into southern Syria, establishing checkpoints, destroying abandoned fortifications, and arresting herders and farmers. This escalation has been ongoing since the fall of the previous Syrian regime. Syria and human rights organizations have reported that Israel has carried out hundreds of incursions since December 2024, aiming to secure its borders and hinder Syria's stability. International disagreements over guarantees and oversight of the region persist, amid Syrian condemnation and calls to halt the escalation and respect Syria's sovereignty.
