Revealed: Two Ramses II Statues in Nile Delta
The Egyptian Archaeological Team has discovered the remains of two massive statues of King Ramses II in the village of Bepet Al-Hagar in Gharbia Governorate, located in the Nile Delta. The find includes the head of a statue approximately 1.60 meters tall, depicting the king wearing the double crown, as well as parts of another statue estimated to be about 2.40 meters in length, with a twisted form and well-defined facial features. Additionally, a block of pink granite bearing hieroglyphic inscriptions featuring the king's titles was found, which increases the likelihood that these statues date back to Ramses II, one of Egypt’s most famous pharaohs who ruled for about 67 years. Further studies are currently underway to uncover more archaeological elements and gain a better understanding of the region’s history.
