Kilta Sesame's Farewell Moves Sudanese Hearts
The kind-hearted Sudanese boy, Al-Hadi, lost his life along with dozens of other miners following airstrikes on a gold mine on the border between Sudan and Egypt. The incident sparked a wave of sympathy and anger across social media platforms. In his farewell will, he asked his brothers to forgive him, as he had become the sole breadwinner after the death of their parents. He advised paying off a small debt of two wheels of sesame and four sacks of bread, and donating his remaining money to charity. Activists responded to his testament, viewing his passing as a reflection of the tragedy facing a nation plagued by conflicts, where young people and the poor are forced to risk their lives for a livelihood. They expressed their regret over the absence of opportunities for a decent life.
