Qatar Emir Outlines Key Role in Iran Conflict
The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, confirmed that his country undertook three main responsibilities during the crisis: protecting sovereignty, supporting global energy security and the economy, and maintaining open diplomacy. Qatar's strategy was based on four key factors: defending the homeland, protecting services and supply chains, contributing to ceasefire efforts and opening maritime routes, and encouraging peaceful negotiations. Despite a 42% decrease in revenues during the first half of the year, Qatar continued to maintain its credit ratings and achieved an economic growth of 2.9%, with a focus on accelerating economic diversification and strengthening national capacities rather than reverting to pre-crisis conditions.
