Trump supports Russia diesel deal
The article focused on Donald Trump's defense of an agreement he made with Russia to lift sanctions on Russian diesel exports, aimed at lowering fuel prices that are at risk of rising, especially after they increased by more than 60% since the start of the war against Iran seven months ago. Trump faced criticism from members of both the Republican and Democratic parties, with some considering that the agreement might violate American laws that prohibit Russian energy imports during the ongoing war in Ukraine, and others arguing that it could harm the United States' credibility and undermine the sanctions imposed on Moscow. Trump insisted that this agreement would benefit American farmers and livestock producers, noting that the amount Russia would provide would not significantly impact global diesel prices, which require hundreds of hours of consumption to be affected. He also commented that the price hikes are due to Ukrainian attacks on Russian refineries. Additionally, he emphasized that the agreement aims to serve the interests of the American people and uphold the principle of prioritizing America, despite domestic and international criticism.
