Millions of displaced across Africa lack shelter and food
The Sahel region of Africa is facing a severe humanitarian crisis due to the rising number of refugees and forced displacement resulting from armed conflicts and political unrest. The refugee count has reached 4 million, a troubling increase from two million six years ago. The security situation has further deteriorated, especially with the withdrawal of UN military operations and Russia's interventions, leading to intensified waves of displacement. This has put enormous pressure on the region's limited resources and resulted in a food crisis, with 5.6 million people at risk of food insecurity. International funding for aid efforts has dwindled, as UN influence has waned and the role has shifted to diplomatic and humanitarian initiatives. There are warnings that the humanitarian crisis will worsen and that security conditions in the region will continue to decline.
